London Scuba - Since 1994

Dive training in the poolLondon Scuba is one of the largest scuba diving schools in the UK, having trained over 15,000 people since it started. The school was set up in 1994 by Ian Pattison, a highly experienced and accomplished PADI Master Instructor. Simon Gray & Steve Skinner joined the team in 2002 & 2005 respectively, and now run the school alongside Ian.

London Scuba is unique in being one of only a handful of  PADI Dive Centres with its own purpose built facilities including a 3m deep indoor heated pool, this avoids cold shared public pools or a lane roped off on a Friday evening.

The pool is indoor & heated to 31-32 degrees. The majority at a depth of 3mts, with a skills ledge at one end at 1.4mts.

At the end of the course your Referral Certificate (part of your Log Book) will be signed, this is valid for 12 months. You then have the choice of doing your Open Water qualifying dives here in the UK with us, or alternatively, go to any worldwide PADI Dive Centre. This certificate is proof that you have completed all theory and pool work and are therefore eligible to undertake the four qualifying dives.

Prerequisites
  • Minimum 10 yrs of age
  • Swim 200 metres (no time limit)
  • Float/Tread Water for 10 minutes
  • Complete a Medical questionnaire and bring this along with you. If you answer yes to any questions on the Medical form you need to get page two signed off by your doctor, stating that you are "fit to dive" prior to attending the course.

There are two of ways of completing this course, options in summary are:

Option A

  • Instructor led course.
  • Over two full days, weekend or midweek

Option B

  • A self study course.
  • Over 1 day, 2 weekend evenings or 3 weekday evenings.
  • In advance of the course you must read the PADI open water diver manual & complete the knowledge reviews.
  • All pool skills, videos, instructor led presentations and final exam are conducted over 2 full days
  • In advance of the course you must complete all of the theory sections from the PADI open water diver manual, complete the knowledge reviews & watch all of the DVD's (approx 8-10hrs)
  • All pool skills and the final exam are conducted over the 8 hour course.
  • A more relaxed, easy going course spreading theory & pool sessions over two days.
  • A more flexible course for those with a busy schedule and little time to spare.
